Second team meeting

Posted by Carlos Alvarez-Aranyos at 25th April 2012 at 21:03 in Planning

We held our second team meeting to talk about the gear list as we continue to bring together what we'll need:

As far as clothing, it's heavy on synthetics. They keep you dry and cool and tend not to smell as much as cotton. Beyond that, we're looking to keep things pretty sparse, and do a lot with as little as possible.

Welcome!

We're in New York and have just begun planning the journey. Right now, our lives revolve around route/vehicle/visas. We've created an ideal route that takes us through twenty nations, and some alternative routes that account for different visa scenarios (including a worst-case scenario that only requires each of us to get one visa.)

We've chosen UNICEF as our charity for this trip. Please click on the link on the site and donate to them on our behalf. We're going to be looking to stop at UNICEF locations throughout our journey. Their work has changed the world, and we must help them continue to do it.

We will keep you updated as the planning stage continues. Thank you for following our adventure.

Preparations coming to a close...

Here's the latest:

We transfered the car's registration from DC to New York. Then we filed that new registration with The Adventurists. We followed that with a full mechanical workup on the car, including the installation of a roof rack. We also finished buying the essential campaign equipment -- including the tent and the stove. In the meantime, the Visa Machine came through and CAA received a passport full of them. ZDZ is still sorting out his visas in New York. Our biggest challenge was that the NY State Title Bureau was not certain that they could produce a new original title by the ship date, but we just heard that they did, and that it'll arrive tomorrow. We will then deposit the car at the port in New Jersey for its journey to Southampton. From now on, planning will consist of further detailing our route and looking for interesting things to see, as well as buying the optional kit.
