The Adventurists

Thanks in no small part to the elixir of wisdom (beer) Dan and I (Jimmy) decided to put together a team of like minded (mental) individuals to take part in the 2012 Mongol Rally.

If you're not sure what the Mongol Rally involves then join the club, because we have no idea. We do have some details, we leave from Goodwood, UK on the 14th of July 2012. Two days later we meet in the Czech Republic for a party known as Czechout. Some driving is done...and some more driving is done...and some more...until some 10,000 miles later we arrive at the finish line in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia.

Between The Czech Republic and Ulaanbaatar we really have no idea what to expect. It could be easy! It probably won't be. We might even get shot...

Of course the best course of action would be to get a big Land Rover with air-conditioning and ground clearance. After all, we will be crossing every type of terrain imaginable, from smooth european highways and rutted Russian back-roads to no road at all. Easy is never fun though so on the Mongol Rally there is the 1litre(ish) rule to make things less easy and more adventurey.

10,000 miles in an unsuitable, underpowered shopping cart whose wheels might, and probably will fall off? Epic.

Details, details..

Details of our adventure can be found by perusing the menu on the left of the page. Here you'll find the details of the rally, a blog (of sorts) of our musings about the team, our vehicle and the sponsors that made all of this possible. An approximation of the route is also available, although this will change as we get more and more lost. You can also follow our Facebook page and track us via the adventurists OR via our in-car GPS tracker! The most important bit though is of course...

The Charities.

The Mongol Rally 2012 is being run in support of the Lotus Children's Centre Charitable Trust and as a Team we will also be raising money for Martin House Children's Hospice. For more information on the charities and details on how to donate please click charity in the menu to left. Your support is greatly appreciated.
