The Herons Go To Mongolia Just to give you a brief summary of what we are doing without boring you with too many details. Myself (Andy), Pete and Dave three dyslexic front row Prop`s playing for Wanstead will be driving to Mongolia. The relevance of this is that currently, we come in at a collective 63 Stone (of pure muscle!!!!). We will be doing the entire 11,367 miles in a stunning 9 year old Vauxhall Agila (Now Called Christina) Club with a massive 1199cc engine. On 14th July 2012 we will be leaving from The Goodwood `Festival of Slow` and heading to the Europen Launch in Prague on the 16th July 2012. From there it is to mongolia, Via Czech Rep, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Russia (again), and Mongolia. In an attempt to take this journey past just being a drinking experience full of debauchery, sleaze and excess we are attempting to raise as much money for charity as possible and experience different cultures (or different beers!) We have targeted to raise £1 for every mile. However never missing a challenge the most money ever raised by one team is £56,000... so dont be shy!!! So once we have actually sorted out the charity`s we are supporting (group in-fighting) please don’t be supprised if we ask you for money, in return if I ever figure out how to properly use computers I will send out the link to a web page where you can follow our progress via trackers on this trip. Ok, planning meeting deciding what charities to support, (there are too many to choose from) Was suggested off hat that maybe a Dyslexic charity could be topical, but at the time could not spell it to look it up. Phone a friend time now has that solved!! Log in to leave a comment. Charity ConfirmedPosted by Andy at 24th April 2012 at 22:19 in Charity News

Big weekend for sponsors. Many thanks to the Westye Group (Sub-Zero and Wolf, who are applaince specialists in my sector) for helping us with the costs that are most definitely mounting. So very much appreciated, I will continue to shout your name to everyone and express how much your support helps!!
A cold and windy day (although i still got a bit of a tan) was spent at Wanstead Rugby Club Car Boot Sale. Anything from team members houses, relatives houses or friends houses that was not nailed down was removed and sold. Any one who walked through our triple pitch (some thing we considered rude) was fined a £1 to the charity. 34 people were caught this way!!!
Have to say a massive thank you to the boys (and girls) at the Rugby Club Saturday night, who while watching England were hastled to donate, we raised over £50 for the Charity , so really many thanks....
Will keep you all updated as our focus turns more and more to fund raising th closer we get. Log in to leave a comment. Sub-Zero & WolfPosted by Andy at 16th June 2012 at 14:59 in Charity News, Sponsors News
