The Adventurists
The Herons

The Herons Go To Mongolia

Just to give you a brief summary of what we are doing without boring you with too many details.

Myself (Andy), Pete and Dave three dyslexic front row Prop`s playing for Wanstead will be driving to Mongolia. The relevance of this is that currently, we come in at a collective 63 Stone (of pure muscle!!!!).

We will be doing the entire 11,367 miles in a stunning 9 year old Vauxhall Agila (Now Called Christina) Club with a massive 1199cc engine.

On 14th July 2012 we will be leaving from The Goodwood `Festival of Slow` and heading to the Europen Launch in Prague on the 16th July 2012. From there it is to mongolia, Via

Czech Rep, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Russia (again), and Mongolia.

In an attempt to take this journey past just being a drinking experience full of debauchery, sleaze and excess we are attempting to raise as much money for charity as possible and experience different cultures (or different beers!)

We have targeted to raise £1 for every mile. However never missing a challenge the most money ever raised by one team is £56,000... so dont be shy!!!

So once we have actually sorted out the charity`s we are supporting (group in-fighting) please don’t be supprised if we ask you for money, in return if I ever figure out how to properly use computers I will send out the link to a web page where you can follow our progress via trackers on this trip.

Funny moment of yesterday...

Posted by Andy at 16th July 2012 at 07:47

Funny moment of yesterday has to be.

Pete in a Czeck petrol station trying to satisfy the driving rules, we are short a car fire extinguisher.

The lady does not speak English, pete nothing but.

Solution Pete tries to explain `Fire Extinguisher` by pulling out a lighter, lighting it and blowing it out. To say the lady was a little shocked at this show of naked flame at the petrol satation is an understatment!!!

Could not stop laughing,

Very long drive done...

Posted by Andy at 18th July 2012 at 05:39

Very long drive done yesterday.

From Chzec republic through Poland then into Ukraine.

1st border crossing done `which was fun` then confronted by the longest, straightest road i have ever seen.

267 miles of dead straight road with one rounderbout 133 miles in. In the middle of forest, dead straight, when it rained it very much rained so you could not see, then the steam from the road covered the markings, but that did not matter anyway as people (lorries) came at you on both sides, then the road markings dissapear so there were no sides!!!

Amazing start to a country that promises a lot today.

Off to meet the bus to take us to Chernoybl.

Onwards

p.s. Christina is running like a dream, need to mention it so the luck continues
